It’s believed that somewhere in Utah lies the famed Montezuma’s gold, a long lost Aztec Treasure. The rumors date back to 1914 when Freddie Crystal arrived in Utah with maps to where the treasure was located.
It wasn’t until the 1920s when Crystal found tunnels in Johnson Canyon. After some exploration, he concluded that these tunnels served as a temporary holding place for the treasure.
Crystal disappeared shortly after his discovery. It wasn’t until 1998, when an Aztec symbol was discovered in the area, that the search was reborn. Still to this day, no hidden Aztec treasure has been discovered.
