Amazon.com Product Review Spacious and sturdy, North Pole's First-Up Gazebo offers a roomy place to hang out in the shade or be protected from an unexpected drizzle while camping, picnicking, tailgating, cheering on a soccer team, backyard barbecues or any other outdoor activity. Measuring 10 by 10 feet with a center peak height of nine feet, the gazebo provides a generous 100 square feet of shelter and is comfortable for even the tallest members of your party without having to duck to enter and exit. Setting up the gazebo is quite simple, due to its First-Up design. The steel frame comes fully assembled and only requires two people and about five minutes to open it by pulling and extending the frame, which is easily accomplished by walking it out while each person holds a leg on diagonal sides. Safety lock mechanisms on each leg lock into place and the lightweight fabric shell fits neatly on the frame to form the roof. Velcro fasteners along the inside provide additional reinforcements to keep the shell attached to the frame. The gazebo also includes stakes that can be inserted in the holes at the foot of each leg and hammered into the ground for more support. In addition, guy lines are attached to each corner, which may also be knotted and looped into the stake, further assuring that the gazebo will be stable on the windiest of days. | | Velcro fasteners secure the shell to the frame for added support | Once assembled--which truly took this reviewer less than five minutes on the first attempt with one other person--the gazebo is ready for your enjoyment and can comfortably accommodate about ten people or more. To disassemble, simply unhook the guy lines and remove the stakes before pushing the button on each leg to unlock the safety leg mechanisms and carefully lower the legs. Next, detach the Velcro fasteners from inside the shell before removing and folding the fabric shell for storage. The legs will collapse by walking in at diagonal sides and can be neatly stowed in the carry case and rolled around to a storage spot until its next use. Feature Detail: - Steel frame with First-up design
- Lightweight, water-resistant fabric shell
- Carry bag with wheels for easy transport
- 3M guy lines
- Four 7-inch steel stakes
- Four 10-inch nail stakes
What's in the Box? Frame, fabric shell, stakes, carry case with wheels

The pop-up shade envied by others August 26, 2006 tp 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
We purchased the North Pole tent to use with our camping trailer. Last weekend it went for its first trip, I was camping at an event where everyone had shade tents (it was 97 degrees out). When I arrived friend came over to help me get set up, seeing that I had a new shade tent it became a focus of interest (I was grateful to have a hand as it doesn't seem likely 1 person can set this up on their own). Comparing our tent to all the others we are very happy with our choice (most folks hve an E-Z up or QuickShade).
North Pole Pros:
- More stably built, two arm support at the corner to the roof brace and an overall stronger feel to the frame.
- Velcro on the corners to help hold the top on, especially nice when setting up in wind.
- Velcro straps at the middle of each side of the top cover, to secure the top to the frame (it's now held at each corner and the middle of each expanse with velcro in addition to a tight fit).
- Velcro straps at the middle of the support arms to the top of the tent (roof braces), to help secure the top to the frame.
- Push buttons over the metal release buttons so you don't kill your thumb trying to lower the tent or when you take it down.
- Great wheeled carrying case.
- Cost LESS then the other tents (and delivered to my front door).
The only two things that could hopefully be improved upon (these are an issue with all these pop-up shades) are the overall weight and being able to set it up and take it down with one person. However, they provided a very nice wheeled case to help with the weight and the added velcro on the corners may allow me to set it up myself if I inch around it in a circular manner.
Great Product & Company July 13, 2006 T. Paris (Easton, MD) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Easy to set up and well build. I forgot to tie it down and a gust of wind blew it over. It went tumbling across the yard and the frame broke. I call the company and they sent out a new frame. No questions, no hastles. Great product for the price and good support.
NP 10x10 Gazebo Super Easy Setup July 20, 2006 Ellen F. Hallett (Lyons OH USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
We took this camping with us over 4th of July weekend for the first time and it was so easy to use and set up. It did only take two of us to set it up, but went extra fast when all 4 of us were busy. We bought the screen attachment for it, and that was easy as well. The best part was that we were on the lake and got some really nasty weather that came up rather fast, and the gazebo came down so quickly that we were able to put it away before the rain started coming down hard.
I like this product June 16, 2006 Steve Hale (NC) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I tried another gazebo that just wasn't sturdy enough in strong wind, but this worked. It's pretty sturdy and easy to set up. I was able to do it easily with my brother. 2 people--easy to set-up. I have seen a few cheaper gazebos out there, but at $79--I feel like I got a great deal. Love it.
Great for BackYard Shade, With 4 Easy to Set Up July 19, 2006 Bea Simonsen (Southern US) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We had to take out a couple of trees last year, and that made our backyard miserable. This has been a lifesaver for early summer outdoor enjoyment.
It didn't take long for four of us to set it up, but I think two people might have trouble with that. We also live in a windy area, plains and farmland, and so far have not had any problems, though I don't believe it will stay upright in the kinds of storms we tend to have in the springtime.
I thought the price was reasonable, and I loved another reviewer's idea about using for a farmer's market. I set up at craft fairs every Christmas and will definitely use this for that purpose later this year.
