Description from backcountry:
The Arc'teryx Beta SL Jacket incorporates an efficient design with a range of function that heavier shells don't offer. Gusseted underarms, complete with pit zips, facilitate both dynamic moves and efficient heat transfer. A short length provides the perfect amount of coverage for active sports as your jacket won't interfere with your pack or harness. Large pockets can hold climbing skins, lunch, or supply shelter for chilly hands. Stay dry through the fiercest of storms with a hidden hood that easily fits over a climbing helmet without restricting vision. Arc'teryx utilizes their WaterTight zips with Gore-Tex Paclite and XCR for a light weight jacket that can ride out the roughest weather. The laminated hem drawcord and adjustable wrists tighten to fend off incoming snow and enhance the layerability of this foul weather friend.

Reviews (2):

I’ll put it simply this jacket rules. It's super windproof and waterproof, extremely light and the fit/cut is ideal for skiing. The pitzips are well placed and effective, the waterproof zips are fantastic and the stow-away hood is great. I wear it around town as a casual jacket as much as I wear it shredding on the hill and it's never let me down, super light and very high performance jacket, very happy with it.

If you like layers (and who doesn't) this is a great jacket. It’s light and packs well but is more durable than a standard rain shell. So far I’ve only used it around town and on a backpacking trip, but it should make an awesome outer layer for all but the coldest days skiing.
